Job Summary: The Risk Manager implements processes to identify, control and report risk within the project. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a risk management process to be applied at project level. Provide advice and guidance to Senior Managers and Project Managers in the application of the process and on the classification of programme and project level risks; ensure that the process is understood and fully utilised so that risks are effectively recognised and managed. Provide support to the Senior Management in the administration of the risk management process at project level, particularly with respect to risks to achievement of business benefits and the ability of other sub-programmes and projects to meet their objectives. Facilitate risk management workshops where required. Look across the Project as a whole and assist the Senior Managers to recognise opportunities to minimise risk through inter-project co-operation and synergy. Ensure that risk mitigation action plans are developed and that risk owners are appointed for all major risks to the Project; ensure that programme and project plans are updated accordingly and monitor implementation of the action plans developed. Set up, manage and maintain the project risk management systems (ie. Xactium, @Risk, PRA etc.) Lead the regular application of project level QRA (Schedule and Cost risk models) and comment on the adequacy of contingency as part of the regular reporting cycle. Provide risk reports for monthly reporting cycle Project Specific: Knowledge of Xactium, @Risk & Primavera Risk Analyser Technical Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of risk management tools and techniques Strong understanding of construction projects Strong knowledge of risk management software Strong understanding of statistical methods such as Monte-Carlo Analysis Ability to use schedule risk modelling software such as Pertmaster Behavioural Competencies: Strong attention to detail and the ability to “deep dive” into issues Able to work collaboratively with other and facilitate risk reviews Ability to present complex information simply Qualifications, Certifications and Experience: Relevant experience of risk management Past experience of large (£100m plus) projects MAPM of formal PM/ planning qualification or professional experience Experience in the railway environment.
