Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Wellingborough (must live within a commutable distance)
Hours: Days only (Apply online only) – no shift pattern, minimal call‑out
Salary: £41,375 + excellent benefits

Overview
Our client, a leading UK recycler of end‑of‑life materials, seeks a proactive and experienced mechanical maintenance engineer to support safe, efficient and reliable production operations. The Role
* Carry out planned preventive maintenance to maximise uptime and equipment performance.
* Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns to minimise disruption.
* Diagnose and repair faults across a range of production machinery.
* Work safely in line with SSOW, risk assessments, SOPs and company policies.
* Complete PPMs and reactive tasks within agreed timeframes.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records (manual and electronic).
* Ensure all repairs are validated by engineering supervision and production teams.
* Keep the workshop organised, safe and compliant, including correct parts usage.
* Participate in limited call‑out cover and support during absence periods.
Experience Required
* Experience with machinery such as granulators, conveyors, hammermills, extrusion equipment, colour separators, gearboxes, bearings, rollers and shafts.
* Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (preferred).
* Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
* Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic.
* Confident using PC‑based software.
* Reliable, organised and committed to high standards.
