The Role:
Hampshire Pension Services deliver a quality pension administration service to scheme members and employers, for four Local Government funds, two Fire authorities and one Police force.
We’re looking for enthusiastic and positive people to join our busy team. As a pensions administrator you’ll be involved in the day-to-day administration, in our member services, employer services, or systems and data team; and you'll be committed to customer care and ready to take on new challenges.
We can offer a competitive salary, a minimum of 24 days annual leave and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme. All our team members receive on the job training as well as undertaking an internal development course covering all aspects of pension administration. We also support vocational training and qualifications with the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) and Chartered Institute of Payroll and Pensions (CIPP).
We're normally based in our modern city centre building in Winchester with quick links to public transport, but were currently working on a hybrid basis combining home working with 1 day a week in the office.
As part of the Pension team, it's essential that you're able to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people. You'll need excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise your work on a day-to-day basis to fit in with the requirements and deadlines of the team. You'll be able to identify issues and suggest solutions, have the ability to motivate others and have a “can do” attitude.
You'll be thorough with great attention to detail, a team player and able to see things through to the end, ensuring excellent outcomes for our customers in the process.
What you’ll do:
Role Responsibilities:
1. Work with members and employers to provide support and guidance to them with basic queries and day to day administration
2. To deal with a whole range of pension scheme administration relating to the local government, fire and police pension schemes
3. Answer phone calls, letters and emails from members, employers and external organisations
4. Maintain member records on our pensions system
5. Calculate pension entitlements e.g. estimates, retirements, transfers and deferred benefits
6. Successfully balance conflicting workload demands with the support of their manager and bring to their attention any concerns with these
7. Engage with a variety of team projects in order to achieve results within specified timescales
8. Promote a culture that welcomes customer feedback and engagement to facilitate continuous improvement
9. Promote team and joined up working to achieve objectives
10. Assess more complex queries and know when to direct to an appropriate manager
11. The role holder, will need to demonstrate an ability to deliver successfully whilst working under pressure with tight and changing deadlines
What we’re looking for:
12. Have you got 5 GCSEs or equivalent, grade C or 4 and above, including Maths and English?
13. Are you enthusiastic and positive?
14. Are you a strong communicator (written and verbal) who can build good working relationships with customers and peers?
15. Do you have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines?
16. Do you have good attention to detail?
17. Can you offer excellent Customer Service, and do you enjoy helping people?

19. Do you have strong IT skills?
