Job description
SEMH Teaching Assistant
Secondary SEMH School – Preston – £500-£600 per week – Full-Time
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Do you have the resilience, confidence, and enthusiasm to thrive in a specialist educational environment that takes a unique and nurturing approach to learning?
Would you jump at the chance to become a positive role model for children with SEMH needs, and make a meaningful impact on their lives?
A specialist SEMH secondary school near Preston is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly supportive school that places relationships, wellbeing, and personal development at the heart of everything it does.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the school’s rural location and limited public transport links, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
The Role – SEMH Teaching Assistant
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, Autism, ADHD, and associated behavioural challenges.
Unlike many traditional school environments, this school follows a highly nurturing and hands-on curriculum, designed to engage pupils through practical learning experiences. The site includes a variety of animals and outdoor learning opportunities, with pupils regularly taking part in activities designed to build confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
Candidates should be comfortable participating in physical activities and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.
The school works exceptionally hard to create an environment where every pupil feels valued, respected, and heard. As a result, behaviour is often more positive than in many SEMH settings, although some behaviour that challenges can occur.
