The vacancy is available at the Highways depot at Shearlegs Road. The role is a 37 hour week, Monday to Friday.
Gateshead Council is seeking a time-served mason paviour with knowledge of Construction Health and Safety legislation relating to highways works. The successful candidate will have a forward-thinking attitude to help the service build on past successes and will work in highway maintenance or construction settings.
Responsibilities
* Perform a range of advanced highways tasks including kerb laying, block paving, flag laying, concrete laying, drainage and all natural stone products.
* Undertake traffic management associated with highway functions and interpret plans and drawings related to highways works.
* Identify underground services during highway duties.
* Provide advice and guidance to other employees as required, ensuring work is carried out in accordance with instructions.
* Collaborate with the Highways Team to maintain high standards of work for all highway users.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Proven track record of working in highway maintenance or construction, with a forward-thinking attitude.
* NRSWA Operative certificate is desirable.
* Knowledge and experience of Construction Health and Safety legislation relating to highways works.
