We are seeking an experienced Control Panel Builder to join a specialist engineering team. This is a hands-on, workshop-based position where precision, technical skill, and attention to detail are essential. You’ll work on unique, small-batch projects that require true craftsmanship and the ability to adapt to varied builds.
This permanent role is based on the outskirts of St Neots and offers the chance to work with a market-leading manufacturer known for innovation and quality in industrial automation. You’ll be part of a collaborative team environment with opportunities for career progression into supervisory, testing, or controls engineering roles.
Main Responsibilities:
Build and wire low-voltage control panels (110–600V AC, single & three-phase; 24V DC)
Interpret electrical schematics, mechanical layouts, and BOMs
Install and terminate devices including circuit protection devices, relays, solenoid valves, inverter drives, HMIs, and PLCs
Work across varied panel types such as junction boxes, MCCs, and multi-door cabinets
Use hand and power tools to fabricate and assemble panel components
Perform continuity testing and basic functional checks
Maintain an organised and safe workshop environment
Collaborate closely with design and test engineers
Skills/Experience:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in electrical panel building
Proficient in reading electrical schematics and mechanical layout drawings
Skilled in wire selection, crimping, ferrule termination, and routing
Familiarity with both AC and DC control systems
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Competent in safe use of workshop tools
Salary & Working Hours:
Salary dependent on experience
39 hours per week, Monday–Friday
