Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage projects or aspects of a project from contract commencement through development and delivery of space and ground segments, launch preparation, in-orbit commissioning, and subsequent service delivery and operations
2. Responsible for all aspects of the project, operating in accordance with established procedures and processes (including schedules, deliverables lists, management plans, risk management, technical maturity gates, and earned value management)
3. Day-to-day management of the project core team activities to ensure progress aligns with the baseline plan, demonstrating strong leadership and motivation
4. Break down work into appropriate work packages and obtain agreements with engineering team leaders for required resources
5. Communication with customers and internal stakeholders, including Engineering Functional Managers, Heads of Engineering, Project Accounting, Commercial teams, and the Leadership Team
6. Complete management of major project reviews, ensuring successful outcomes to secure corresponding customer payment milestones
7. Manage project key risks, ensuring they are identified and captured with measurable mitigation actions
8. Monitor and control project finances, ensuring delivery within the agreed budget
9. Prepare cost packs in support of business development activities
10. Support bids by providing programmatic solutions, covering deliverables, schedule, costs, risks, and customer interactions
Job Requirements:
11. Proven experience in project management, particularly in satellite or engineering/aerospace industries
12. Experience of interfacing with customers
13. Strong background in implementing contracts
14. Familiarity with work package systems and matrix management structure
15. A degree or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline is preferable
16. Excellent people management skills, capable of motivating and leading a team
17. Good teamwork skills and the ability to interface at all levels
18. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate
19. High degree of organisation, self-motivation, and initiative
20. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
21. Results-oriented with a strong drive to deliver
22. Pro-active and able to take initiative
23. Decision-making and creative problem-solving skills
24. Ability to deliver solutions under pressure and tight timescales
25. Experience in working closely with technical teams to understand and translate concepts to schedule and cost impacts
26. Ability to produce and maintain a risk register and communicate risk philosophies
27. Understanding of commercial terms and their project impacts
28. Competent in creating project plans and translating them into project schedules within MS Project
29. Able to work autonomously and use own initiative
30. Understanding of contracts and product assurance plans
31. Proficient in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Project
