An exciting opportunity for the post of Clinical Nurse Specialist has become vacant within Adult Community Mental Health Services in Rosanne House, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The role involves:
1. Taking responsibility for contributing significantly to nursing input, participating fully in referral and allocation processes, assessments, treatment, risk management, safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, care coordination, and contributing to case discussions and service-related meetings.
2. Offering consultations and supervision to colleagues, students, and staff in other services.
3. Fulfilling the role of Nurse Independent Prescriber for a specific group of service users, developing and providing highly specialist evidence-based interventions based on a wide range of theoretical frameworks and treatment modalities.
4. Delivering timely, accessible services through clinic-based and outreach models.
5. Providing highly specialist advice and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to colleagues and external agencies, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
6. Care coordinating a small caseload of service users, delivering assessments and integrated care.
7. Developing nursing practice within the service, including supervising nursing colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines.
8. Participating in supervision, appraisal, and professional development, including nurse prescribing.
9. Collaborating with other professions within HPFT and external agencies to build capacity for early identification and management of disorders and disabilities.
10. Working with colleagues across primary, secondary, and tertiary care to improve service provision, enabling effective community care and reducing inpatient admissions.
11. Leading service innovation and development projects, ensuring safe and effective nursing delivery, and advising on referral appropriateness for nursing-oriented approaches.
12. Maintaining a small clinical caseload of complex cases, providing holistic assessments, and formulating treatment and management plans based on research and evidence.
13. Using specialist knowledge to identify and interpret complex behaviors, formulating effective interventions, and providing multi-modality guidance and advice to the multidisciplinary team.
14. Supporting alternatives to inpatient admission through outreach and collaborative care packages.
Qualifications and experience required include:
* Registered Nurse (Mental Health/Learning Disability)
* Teaching certificate including annual update (ENB 998) or equivalent
* Evidence of CPD
* Nurse Independent Prescriber
Desirable criteria include:
* MSc in a therapeutic treatment modality (e.g., systemic practice, CBT), postgraduate clinical and therapeutic qualifications, and experience in various settings relevant to the post.
* Experience with service users presenting with emotional/psychological difficulties and challenging behaviors, safeguarding, teaching, supervision, and working in diverse cultural contexts.
