Job Purpose
The estimator is primarily an office-based role where the employee will provide day to day support to the Managing Director and the sales team on various elements within the companys sales / projectsbased activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The estimator performs a wide range of duties as listed below. Once an enquiry is received the estimator would be expected to carry-out these duties as necessary.
Specific: Estimating Stage
1. Log the enquiry on the database and set up the project enquiry file.
2. Set up the estimate Excel spreadsheet and the tabs associated with the requirements of the survey.
3. Analyse and familiarise yourself with the survey notes and drawings.
4. Decide how best to present the information to the client.
5. Initiate any additional design works as necessary i.e. 3D renders, mood boards, alternative layouts.
6. Send out enquiries for prices for brought in services / trades. These packages could include further design information and some specification writing.
7. Build up labour and materials costs in the Excel spreadsheet in order to bring together the schedule of costs...
