Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Telford
Hours: 30 Hours per week, 8.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (Hour lunch)
Contract: Term Time + 1 Week (PD Days)
Scale: Scale 5 (£14.60 - £15.58 per hour) Annual Salary (£19,557 - £20,869) dependent on experience and length of service
Start: To start from September 2025
About the role
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who will be working as part of the Attendance Team, to ensure our students reach their full potential by attending school daily. The ideal candidate will have administrative skills in recording attendance and understand the importance of attendance and punctuality in school performance and student outcomes. You will need to be approachable and have a confident manner allowing you to communicate with a wide variety of people including parents and Educational Welfare Officers.
As part of the role, you would also be expected to support the First Aid Team. You would only be expected to provide First Aid assistance when the team is under severe pressure, or during absenteeism.

Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience with school MIS systems (Bromcom).
* Excellent organisational, IT, and communication skills.
* Ability to analyse and present data clearly.
* Knowledge of attendance legislation and safeguarding procedures.
* A proactive and collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and families.
* Able to have difficult and challenging conversations with parents about absence from school and unauthorised holidays in term-time.
* Ability to take ownership of school attendance alongside the Senior Attendance Champion and develop the ethos throughout the school.
* Able to be proactive and use initiative to seek out the reasons for non-attendance and work with colleagues and families to overcome barriers to improving pupil attendance.
* Other duties in line with the role as directed by the designated members of staff. This may include occasional visits to family homes to support other staff member, and to attend.
* Meetings to discuss unsatisfactory attendance and related issues.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
