We are seeking a competent machinery-minded stockperson with a dairy farming background to join our team on a progressive farm near the picturesque village of Litcham. This role is based at the home farm unit, focusing on forage and grazing management, and also involves work on an adjoining sister unit with 340 crossbred cows calving in the autumn. Responsibilities include TMR feeding, grassland management across both units, stock work, and potentially some milking.
The herds are managed on a forage-based system with housed periods on sand cubicles and semi TMR feeding. Yields are approximately 8,500 litres per cow. Milking is conducted through 24:48 parlours, DTL with ACRs, auto shedding, heat detection, and modern handling facilities. The home farm also features excellent calf rearing facilities, silage clamps, and feed stores supporting both units.
This position offers a seasonal workload, making the summer months less demanding, along with a comfortable 3-bedroom house centrally located between the two units, and an attractive remuneration package with regular time off.
If you are looking for a challenging team role with a future, and can offer solid stockmanship, consistency, and attention to detail, please contact James Picot for more details.
