Package Section Manager – Laing O\'Rourke (BYLOR) – Hinkley Point C (Somerset)
Join to apply for the Package Section Manager role at Laing O\'Rourke. BYLOR is a joint venture between Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O\'Rourke delivering the main civil works for the HPC project.
Purpose Of The Role
The Section Manager will work directly with the construction manager to ensure the project is built to the right quality, with the highest safety standards, and in line with the approved schedule. The Section Manager will be responsible for a floor/zone within the HBX Operations Service Centre and will report to the construction manager. The role interfaces with multiple Tier 2 contractors and direct labour, so strong communication and organisational skills are required.
Package scope (areas of work) – Dry-lining, Timber joinery, Timber doors, Metal doors, Painting, Raised access floors, Architectural metalwork, Glazing, Internal windows, Epoxy flooring.
Key Responsibilities And Specific Accountabilities
* Sub-contract management
* Managing daily the sub-contractors on a floor/zone basis
* Monitor labour and material resource levels for each package
* Daily diary of progress and notable actions
* Contribute to the overall logistics plan of the site for your specific packages
* Chair and assist package interface meetings in both design and construction space
* Responsible for ensuring works meet the correct quality benchmarks and specifications, including use of electronic record systems (FV/Snagmaster or similar)
* Design input – ensure design is buildable and coordinate with the design team to ensure works comply with client specifications
* Review and input into SHEQ documentation inclusive of RAMS/ITPs/QA
* Assist with LTQRs and handover of area/rooms/levels in line with procedures and schedules
* Assist with overall logistics and plans to facilitate the works
Essential Skills & Knowledge
Technical Skills:
* Buildings experience of 1–5+ years, specific to internal/fit-out trades; understands interfaces and complexities of a building project
* Methodical thinker and action taker
* Construction management or civil engineering degree
* Strong organisational and time management skills – responsible for multiple packages
* BIM – 2D and 3D at basic to intermediate level; NAVISworks desirable
* Ability to understand and create programmes/schedules of work
Interpersonal Skills
* Strong communicator with the ability to work within a team

Education & Qualifications
* Degree in Building/Construction Management or Civil Engineering with relevant building experience
* IOSH/SMSTS or equivalent safety accreditation
