Overview
TOC (Transportation Operation Center) is the central command and control center for Transportation Execution across the Amazon Supply Chain network, supporting multiple geographies such as NA, India and EU. It ensures timely pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers (FC) and from FCs to carrier hubs. TOC resolves exceptions and keeps stakeholders informed. It also analyzes network data to identify trends and automation opportunities to streamline operations. Overall, TOC plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of Amazon transportation and its impact on serving customers on time.
Purview of a Trans Ops Specialist A Trans Ops Specialist at TOC facilitates flow of information between different stakeholders (Trans Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves issues that impact customer experience and business continuity. The role covers two verticals – Inbound and Outbound operations. Inbound Operations deal with Vendor/Carrier/FC relationships to ensure timely pickup and delivery as per appointments. Outbound Operations deal with FC/Carrier/Carrier Hub relationships to ensure trucks leave the FC and deliver to customers as promised. The specialist addresses issues during the lifecycle of freight from pickup to delivery and from FC to customer premises.
A Trans Ops Specialist provides timely resolution by researching and querying internal tools and by making real-time decisions. The ideal candidate should understand requirements, analyze data to notice trends, and drive customer experience without compromising on time. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Logistics and communicate clearly in written and oral form. The specialist should ideate process improvements and drive them to conclusions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers)
* Ability to pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
* Develop and/or understand performance metrics to assist with driving business results
* Ability to scope out business and functional requirements for Amazon technology teams who create and enhance the software systems and tools used by TOC
* Must be able to quickly understand the business impact of trends and make decisions based on available data
* Must be able to systematically escalate problems or variance in information and data to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on resolutions to ensure they are delivered
* Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed
* Excellent communication, both verbal and written, to create narratives outlining weekly findings and variances to goals and present these findings in a review forum
* Provide real-time customer experience support by working in a 24/7 operating environment
