Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Facilities Assistant to work with a secondary school in the Tonbridge area. The incoming candidate will initially work 8am – 4pm, Mon - Fri, with ad hoc shift work commencing in September.
The Facilities Assistant will provide essential support in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Working closely with the Site Manager and wider facilities team, this role ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the school’s buildings and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of school buildings and grounds
* Carry out minor repairs, routine checks, and preventative maintenance tasks
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any issues promptly
* Support the setup and breakdown of school events, activities, and classroom arrangements
* Assist with security measures, including monitoring access and reporting any concerns
* Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and other facilities resources
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and students
* Work collaboratively with the Site Manager, caretakers, and other staff to ensure a safe and functional school environment
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, or caretaking roles
* Competent in carrying out basic DIY or maintenance
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
* Awareness of health and safety practices, ideally in an education setting
