Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified clinician who shares our Trust's values, to join an enthusiastic cardiology team to develop the provision of cardiology services at Kingston Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To cover the following duties:
1. To review inpatients at Kingston Hospital with a bed base of 36 (together with a Consultant colleague) and to provide in-reach for cardiology referrals.
2. To undertake cardiology outpatient clinics at Kingston Hospital.
3. To work with the Clinical Lead and service-line managers to ensure the provision of high quality, effective care which meets operational standards.
4. To actively participate in education and training, medical/clinical audit, clinical risk management, clinical governance, and management activities of the service-line.
5. To actively participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
6. The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload daily and prioritising those tasks requiring immediate attention.
7. There will be appropriate mentoring of the new Specialist Grade provided within the Trust.

Person Specification
Clinical Experience (Essential):
* At least one year postgraduate experience in general medicine.
* Minimum 6 years in relevant specialty grades, with a total of at least 12 years practice as a doctor, including overseas qualifications accepted.
* General training in cardiology to specialist level or equivalent.
* Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.
* Ability to evaluate and manage patients, formulating differential diagnoses and management plans.
Management Skills (Essential):
* Ability to communicate at strategic and operational levels.
Experience in Training, Audit, and Research (Essential):
* Commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors.
* Experience of clinical audit.
Personal Qualities (Essential):
* Leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.
* Motivational skills, facilitating clinical practice changes, teamwork.
* Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, approachability.
* Commitment to CPD, revalidation, and clinical governance.
Qualifications (Essential):
* Full GMC Registration with License to Practice.
* Full MRCP or equivalent.
* Meets criteria in the generic capabilities framework for specialist grade.
