Job Overview
This is a fixed‑term training post for 2 years to meet the service needs. The training program offers the opportunity to gain the experience and qualifications required to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Salary
Annex 21 Band 4 – 70% of bottom of band 4 initially, progressing to 75% after 12 months.
Responsibilities
* Develop high‑level expertise in medicines and health, working as part of healthcare teams in hospitals, community pharmacies and primary care.
* Dispense medicines for in‑patients and out‑patients, manage purchasing and distribution, and support ward‑based activities.
* Participate in project weeks at different sites, conduct audits and deliver presentations as part of training.
* Play an active role in ensuring safe medication management and contributing to the delivery of an enhanced medicines service.
Qualifications
* Essential: 4 GCSEs A‑C including Maths, English and Science.
* Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, evidence of continuing professional development after leaving school.
Experience and Skills
* Experience working within hospital and/or community pharmacy or across the NHS.
* Ability to work in a team, organise independently, good IT skills and health‑and‑safety awareness.
* Knowledge of pharmacy services and the role of a pharmacy technician.
* Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; applicants speaking Welsh and/or English are equally welcome.
* Willingness to travel, appreciation of care responsibilities and the bilingual nature of the area.
