Mixed Veterinary Surgeon – Mid Wales (Powys) Bran New Practice | Independent Practice | Red Sector Recruitment Interested? Send your CV to scott@Redsector.co.uk to apply or find out more. Vet bills are rising. Clients are frustrated. Targets are increasingly focused on maximising profits. With ongoing staff shortages, many vets are working longer hours with fewer breaks. Sound familiar? You didn’t become a vet to rush consultations, spend less time with patients, or feel pressured by unrealistic targets. Whether you’re treating a beloved family pet in the consulting room or examining cattle out in the field, you chose this profession because you care about animals, their owners, and delivering the best possible care. If you're considering a move, chances are you're looking for something different. A practice where you can truly get to know your patients, follow cases through properly, and work in an environment where you’re trusted to do your job without micromanagement. The good news is – practices like this still exist. Red Sector Recruitment is working with a modern, independent, multi-branch veterinary group that is expanding and looking to welcome a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to their experienced and supportive team. Ideally suited to a vet with around 2 years’ experience, this role offers the opportunity to work across a varied caseload including small animals, equine, cattle, and sheep. You’ll be joining a collaborative team of vets and nurses at a brand-new, purpose-built practice, working within a well-established independent group that has been serving its local community for over 140 years. The role offers genuine clinical variety. You will be: Consulting and treating small animal patients Working with farm clients across cattle and sheep Seeing equine cases where appropriate Diagnosing and treating medical conditions Performing surgery Providing preventative health care and emergency treatment to farm patients One of the biggest advantages of working in an independent practice is the freedom and trust given to vets. There are no unrealistic targets, no corporate pressure, and no remote management telling you how to do your job. The focus is on quality veterinary care and supporting the team. Professional development is actively encouraged. The practice invests heavily in its people, with strong internal support from experienced colleagues as well as visiting vets. There are also excellent links with a local university, and the wider practice group is recognised as one of the largest poultry veterinary providers in the UK, offering opportunities to diversify your clinical experience if that interests you. Work-life balance is also a priority: 5-day working week 8:30am – 5:00pm 1 in 5 Saturday mornings 1 in 5 out-of-hours rota Monday afternoon off following a weekend on-call The team is friendly and sociable too, with regular team events, summer barbecues, and nights out throughout the year. The Location This role is based in Mid Wales (Powys), right on the English/Welsh border, where the rolling Shropshire Hills meet the stunning countryside of rural Wales. It’s an area known for its breathtaking landscapes, outdoor lifestyle, and strong community feel. With world-class hiking, cycling, and countryside on your doorstep, it offers the perfect balance for vets looking to step away from city pressures and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life without sacrificing professional fulfilment. What’s On Offer Salary £35,000 – £55,000 DOE 31 days holiday plus Bank Holidays Relocation package available if required CPD allowance and support for development Company car and phone provided for work use Supportive, experienced clinical team Genuine work-life balance in an independent practice environment If you're looking for challenging and rewarding veterinary work, supportive colleagues, real autonomy, and a fantastic lifestyle, this could be the long-term move you've been waiting for. You don’t need the perfect CV to start the conversation. Send your CV to scott@Redsector.co.uk today or get in touch for an informal chat about the opportunity.
