Our client, a leading global banking group, is seeking a Sanctions Advisory Specialist to join its high-performing team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Sanctions Advisory Specialist to play a pivotal role in maintaining a robust sanctions framework and supporting the business in meeting its legal and regulatory obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert sanctions advice and oversight in supporting the Head of Sanctions.
* Monitor and analyse UK sanctions and trade developments, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes to deliver actionable insights and guidance.
* Represent the organisation in industry forums and working groups, contributing to advocacy and horizon-scanning efforts.
* Maintain and enhance local sanctions policies, procedures, and controls to align with both UK regulations and global group standards.
* Advise on complex sanctions issues and payment alert escalations, including those from nearshore hubs and internal stakeholders.
* Oversee the governance of critical sanctions controls such as list management, frozen asset reporting, and incident escalation.
* Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives aimed at strengthening the bank’s financial crime and compliance framework.
Ideal candidate will have;
* Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of UK and international sanctions regimes (e.g. OFSI, EU, UN, US).
* Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legislation and regulatory updates, translating them into practical, business-friendly advice.
* Familiarity with SWIFT and SEPA messaging standards, and a strong grasp of sanctions screening tools and processes.
* Solid understanding of financial crime compliance standards and evolving regulatory expectations.
