About the Team: The Easter Howgate Farm team consists of six full-time staff working across a busy mixed farming operation. Day-to-day activities include livestock management, tractor work, grassland and arable operations, fencing, maintenance and supporting the farm's teaching and research programmes. We are a close-knit team that values hard work, flexibility and a positive attitude, and we are looking for someone who can work well alongside others while taking pride in maintaining high standards across the farm. The Opportunity: Join our team at Easter Howgate Farm and play a key role in managing a dynamic commercial suckler herd of around 400 breeding cows within a thriving academic environment. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to be involved in the full livestock lifecycle—from birth through to finishing—while maintaining the highest standards of animal health and welfare across approximately 800 cattle. Working alongside students, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning setting, combining practical farm work with mentoring and pastoral support. If you're passionate about livestock, committed to safety and welfare, and enjoy working in a collaborative, educational setting, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have demonstrable practical experience in livestock handling and general farm operations, with a sound understanding of animal welfare and health and safety requirements. The ability to work effectively within a team and support students in a practical environment is essential. A formal agricultural qualification is desirable but not required where relevant experience can be evidenced. For full person specification, download the job particular document. Eligibility for Sponsorship: Please note that this position does not meet the criteria for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
