Staff Nurse – 28 hours per week 2 posts are available About the Organisation: National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive. The Post: We are looking for two dynamic, forward thinking nurses who enjoy working as part of a team. The Candidate: You will require excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. An active interest in training and quality assurance would also be beneficial. Within your role you will contribute to the overall management and smooth running of whole blood and blood component sessions ensuring donors feel welcome, comfortable and valued. You will be required to undertake venepuncture and medical selection duties. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying. Location and Working Pattern: These posts will be based at Edinburgh Blood Donor Centre, Lauriston Place, Edinburgh. The work pattern for these posts is Monday to Sunday, 28 hours per week. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours will include Sundays and regular late evenings. It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
