Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher Contract Type: Full Time | Permanent Start Date: 01/09/2026 Location: Barnet, London, UK Salary: £37,870 – £50,474 per year (Outer London Pay Scale) About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Modern Foreign Languages Teacher to join a high-performing and inclusive secondary school in Barnet from September 2026. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity suitable for both experienced teachers and ambitious ECTs looking to begin their career in a supportive and well-structured environment. The school is a thriving 6-form entry secondary with a strong sixth form and a reputation for academic excellence. The Role You will deliver high-quality teaching in Modern Foreign Languages, inspiring students to develop confidence, cultural awareness, and strong communication skills across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable but not essential). Applications are welcomed from teachers of French and/or Spanish. Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the national curriculum • Teach French and/or Spanish across KS3 and KS4 • Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and high prior attainers • Use assessment data to inform planning and raise attainment • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and academic standards Curriculum & Department Contribution • Contribute to collaborative planning within the MFL department • Support curriculum development and enrichment opportunities • Promote language learning through trips, cultural events, and extracurricular activities Assessment & Progress • Mark and assess work in line with school policy • Provide clear, constructive feedback • Track progress and intervene where necessary Pastoral & Professional Responsibilities • Act as a form tutor (if required) • Contribute to the wider pastoral ethos of the school • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students • Engage fully in CPD and, where applicable, the ECT induction programme The Ideal Candidate • Holds QTS (or is working towards QTS) • Has a relevant degree in French, Spanish, or a related subject • Can teach French and/or Spanish to KS3 and KS4 • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective behaviour management • Is passionate about cultural enrichment and language learning • Is committed to inclusion, high standards, and collaborative working Why Join This School? • A structured and supportive ECT induction programme • A dedicated mentor and high-quality CPD • A collaborative, forward-thinking MFL department • Modern facilities and strong leadership support • A comprehensive staff wellbeing programme • Excellent transport links across Barnet and into central London This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that values professional growth, teamwork, and high standards.
