Up to £52,259 per annum – depending on experience.
Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison located near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, just a 5 minute walk away.
Responsibilities
* Lead a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
* Undertake medication rounds and dispense controlled medication.
* Attend emergency response situations.
* Assess patients and undertake reception screening.
* Use an evidence‑based framework to assess health needs and risk, applying sound clinical knowledge.
* Assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission and throughout custody to make appropriate referrals.
* Make clinical judgments concerning immediate need and long‑term treatment.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current Mental Health professional qualification (NMC).
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Experience in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working.
* Non‑judgmental and compassionate approach.
* Understanding of mental health policy, clinical governance, quality and outcomes framework, NICE, and national standards.
* Experience working in secure environments (prison, immigration removal centres, etc.).
