Job Outline – BASED IN KILMARNOCK
Position: Female Personal Assistant
Supporting a lady in her mid-20s in Kilmarnock. The position involves 5 to 15 hours per week.
Salary: Living wage rate – £12.60 per hour, paid every 4 weeks in arrears.
Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks paid, pro-rated for contracted staff.
Days and Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 5 hours per day, daytime hours mainly, roughly 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Job Purpose: To provide 5 to 15 hours weekly support to a young woman in her mid-20s who lives with her parents and their Labrador. A driver with own transport is preferred. The support includes personal care, social activities, and respite cover. She requires supervision at all times when out due to her inability to recognize danger.
Employer: The family will be the employer, supported by a relevant organization for payroll and employment responsibilities.
Probation Period: 6 months. Successful candidates will need to undergo PVG checks and provide two references before starting.
Key Duties:
* Support her engagement in community activities.
* Assist with personal care as directed.
* Support her participation in activities and social outings, including occasional evening and weekend work, with prior notice.
* Provide companionship at home, engaging in activities like painting nails, watching movies, and playing games.
Training: Previous experience supporting adults with additional needs required.
Person Specification:
* Experience supporting people to achieve positive outcomes; relevant qualifications preferred.
* Good interpersonal, communication, listening, and organizational skills.
* Understanding of person-centered support and social inclusion.
* Ability to work in partnership and engage effectively with individuals and communities.
Attributes:
* Sense of humor, down-to-earth, good at connecting with community activities.
* Physical fitness, reliable, flexible, with a full clean UK driving license and business insurance.
* Interest in activities such as eating out, walks, music, puzzles, cinema, disability disco, and outings with her dog.
