Position Overview
A opportunity has arisen here at Millom Community hospital for health care assistants to join our team.
There are 75 hours in total to be distributed to successful candidates based on their preference of hours.
The Band 3 positions are primarily to cover the ward; however, some district support may be required from time to time.
All applicants should ideally possess some experience in a health care setting which can include nursing home experience.
Shift Schedule
The trust works on an internal rotation basis which involves working various shift times.
* Early – 07:00–15:00 hrs.
* Lates – 12:00–20:00 hrs.
* Other daytime shift – 15:00–20:00 hrs.
* Nights – 19:30–07:30 hrs (7 days per week, including weekends).
* District nursing – 08:30–16:30 hrs (7 days per week).
Key Responsibilities
The main duties of the health care assistant include taking direction from the nurse in charge, providing a high standard of care to in‑patients and patients in our community, working alongside team members, supporting each other, showing a flexible approach to good working relationships, supporting in dealing with any emergency situation, delivering a high standard of personal care, keeping up to date with training and learning, working efficiently as a team member, and being respectful of patients, MDT members and work colleagues.
Support & Training
Support and training can be provided to build on existing individual skills.
Location
We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – along with a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
