The Role and the Department
The Department and role purpose The Student Enrichment Directorate is striving to play a pivotal role in developing, delivering and transforming a Wider Student Experience that is as impactful as anything in the world. Sport
Durham University is one of Europe's leading sport universities and has been ranked in the top three for BUCS performance since 2013. In 2019 the University completed the construction of a £32m Sports & Wellbeing Park, adding to a prior investment, on the same site, of £8m in 2012 making it the sporting facility in the north of England. As a result of the amazing work that has been carried out across our performance, participation and community networks the University was awarded the Times and Sunday Times Sports University of the Year for 2023.
Business Development
The Business Development Coordinator's key focus area is to play a leading role in the recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate sport scholars both home and overseas applicants.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role coordinating postgraduate student athlete recruitment and will also assist in the co-ordination of undergraduate student recruitment, working directly with the strategic leads in both areas.
The post holder will be one of the main points of contact for overseas postgraduate student athletes and will also be a key contact for undergraduate students in sports where coaches are also in post.
Additionally, they will identify new recruitment opportunities for postgraduate and undergraduate student athletes as well as establishing and developing new links with institutions nationally and globally in target sports.

Qualifications/Experience
1. Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
2. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services to a high standard.
3. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality.
4. Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.
5. Knowledge of alumni relation systems in the UK and US
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
6. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
7. Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including social media platforms, Microsoft 365 applications, business systems].
8. Ability to solve problems yourself and as part of a team and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions.
9. Committed to continuing professional development.
10. Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information.
11. An understanding of the British University sports system and student recruitment strategies.
12. An understanding of the North American sport system (NCAA) and experience of recruiting athletes from US universities
