Job Title: Senior Training Fellow Respiratory Medicine

Location: Royal Stoke University Hospital, London Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 6QG. University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Overview

An exciting opportunity at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust to join the Respiratory Medicine team at Royal Stoke University Hospital. The role is to provide care and diagnostic services for patients presenting with Respiratory illnesses and to support the department that covers inpatient, outpatient and day-case services including Sleep & Ventilation, Interstitial Lung Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma, Lung Cancer, Pleural Procedures and General Respiratory services across two sites.

The Respiratory Department is the regional centre for interstitial lung disease and non-invasive ventilation. It comprises 4 Respiratory Wards with 115 inpatient beds, including a 26-bed Acute Lung Unit with 16 NIV beds. The department has two Respiratory Physiology Departments offering a range of lung function tests.

The post is not recognised as a formal training slot; however, the training opportunities align with those available to registrar level doctors within Respiratory Medicine.


Responsibilities

* Participate in the provision of general and specialist respiratory services (inpatient and outpatient).
* Assist in ward management including electronic discharges.
* Contribute to the training of junior medical staff.
* Assist in the undertaking of full clinical computerised audit within the department.


Person Specification

Essential

* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration
* NHS experience at ST1 level or equivalent experience
* ALS
* Evidence of continuing professional updating
* Demonstrates a clear reason for wanting this role
* Commitment to pursuing a career in specialised medicine or related specialties

Desirable

* Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
* Academic and extracurricular achievements
* Senior Fellows will have appropriate skills & experience to demonstrate in the chosen specialty minimum equivalent to ST3
