Who we are and what we aim to achieve
The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) was set up in response to the devastating events that occurred in the 1970s and 1980s when more than 30,000 people in the UK received contaminated blood products. The IBCA will work with people who were infected and affected by these issues, and when you join us you’ll have the opportunity to shape our approach and make a difference to the lives of thousands of people throughout the UK.
Help us engage with the community we support with compassion and empathy
Our collaborative Communication and Engagement team sits at the heart of our organisation, and works to explain the compensation scheme with clarity, openness and empathy. Join us and you’ll inspire our people to be the best as you take responsibility for the development and implementation of a creative approach to our social, press and consumer media communication plans. Highly motivated and with a strong focus on achieving our objectives while supporting the community we’re working with, you’ll also be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes wellbeing, collaboration and aligns with our values.
You’ll have a wide range of day-to-day tasks – these include taking responsibility for the development, management and content strategies of our digital and media channels, overseeing responses to live media and digital questions, and working closely with senior leaders to identify and influence communication requirements for the community. We’re dedicated to transparency and engagement, so with this in mind you’ll also focus on horizon scanning, planning for potential coverage, explaining our work, addressing any issues that occur, and ensuring that lessons are learned and applied to a cycle of continuous improvement.
Use all your knowledge, sensitivity and expertise in this vital role
To be a success in this significant, fast-moving role you’ll be a confident and creative professional, possess a deep understanding of modern media and social media outlets, and be passionate about using them to support, involve and inform marginalised and hard-to-reach audiences. Capable of planning, designing and delivering engaging social, press and consumer media communications strategies that fulfil our ambitious business objectives and the needs of the community we support, we’ll also expect you to lead on relationships with a number of specialist agencies.
It goes without saying that you’ll have plenty of experience overseeing channel strategies and producing media and social products for a range of outlets including print, online, radio, broadcast, Facebook, X, LinkedIn and YouTube, and you should be skilled at monitoring and evaluating our work and improving outcomes. Adept at juggling a number of different projects and programmes at the same time, previous experience of leading a similar team in a public or regulatory context would be desirable, as would experience of journalism, press office or parliamentary work.
The Civil Service embraces diversity and promotes equal opportunities. With this in mind, we run a Disability Confident Scheme for candidates with disabilities who meet the minimum selection criteria. Also, please note that successful candidates must meet our security requirements before they can be appointed, and will also undergo a criminal record check.
