Overview
Manchester City Council is seeking a visionary Head of Highways Project Delivery to lead the design and delivery of a £150m portfolio of major and minor highway infrastructure projects. This role will take strategic ownership of high‑impact schemes that transform how people move across the city.
Responsibilities
* Lead a talented in‑house team and manage external partners to deliver projects that meet the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability.
* Take strategic ownership of programme delivery, commercial contract management and stakeholder engagement across complex programmes.
* Equip, inspire, and influence senior stakeholders across the council and external partners.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed standards.
Qualifications & Experience
* Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent professional experience.
* Extensive background in programme delivery, commercial contract management and stakeholder engagement.
* Experience leading high‑impact infrastructure programmes.
* Strong leadership, influencing and performance management skills.
