The Heart of England Co-operative Society is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Management Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. About the Role As a Senior Management Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the month-end close process, enhancing financial reporting, and ensuring robust financial control. You will lead and mentor a management accountant, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance team. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a Management Accountant, promoting professional growth. Prepare and present monthly and annual financial reports for management and the board. Conduct detailed financial analysis to inform business decision-making. Enhance the month-end close process and promote continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with various departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. Ensure adherence to accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. Oversee the external audit process. Support other finance teams to ensure a seamless service to the wider business. Manage risks effectively, propose solutions, and communicate with key stakeholders. Perform ad-hoc financial tasks as required by management. About You We are looking for a commercially astute and detail-oriented finance professional who meets the following criteria: Essential Requirements: Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACA/ACCA) with at least 5 years PQE. Proven track record as a Finance Manager or equivalent in a commercially focused role. Strong experience in delivering management reporting and commercial finance support. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and IT literate. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Team player with a collaborative approach. Desirable Attributes: Retail industry background. Sound knowledge of company taxation. Experience working with large volumes of data. Advanced Excel skills. Experience with accounting software.
