What You'll Be Doing
We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer to develop, implement, and support PCB test processes within an aerospace manufacturing environment, working in compliance with IPC and high-reliability standards. The role is responsible for ensuring effective test coverage that supports product quality, compliance, and on-time delivery.
The Test Engineer will define test strategies, write and maintain test programs, and deliver robust test systems to the shop floor. Working closely with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, the role will support both NPI and production, providing hands-on troubleshooting, failure analysis, and continuous improvement of test processes.
Key Responsibilities
Own and develop PCB test processes including Boundary Scan, Flying/Roving Probe, Functional Test, Easy Wire, and DITMCO
Create, validate, and maintain test programs, fixtures, and test documentation
Engage with Engineering and Design teams to define test requirements and coverage
Deliver test systems and procedures to the shop floor
Maintain and repair test equipment to ensure availability and reliability
Support the shop floor with test failures, root cause analysis, and training of test technicians
Essential
Experience as a Test or Manufacturing Engineer supporting PCB assemblies
Strong understanding of PCB test methodologies and fault coverage
Hands-on experience writing and supporting test programs
Ability to troubleshoot test failures and perform structured root cause analysis
Knowledge of IPC standards (e.g. IPC-A-610, IPC-620 and J-STD-001), with the ability to interpret, apply, and enforce requirements within an aerospace quality framework.
Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with Design, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams
Desirable
Recognised UK engineering qualification, e.g. HNC/HND or BEng (Hons) in Electrical, Electronic, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Formal IPC certification (e.g. IPC-A-610, IPC-620 and J-STD-001)
Lean / Six Sigma training (Green Belt or equivalent) with demonstrable yield or reliability improvements.
