Job Description
As part of the Decommissioning Team at Orano Limited, you will participate in core D&D engineering tasks, including decommissioning planning, design, waste handling studies, dismantling, demolition, and delicensing activities.
The four core pillars of the D&D discipline at Orano Limited are:
* Retrievals
* POCO
* Investigations and Characterisations
* Dismantling and Demolition
You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle: Feasibility, Preliminary Design, Detail Design, Construction/Commissioning.
You will deliver innovative engineering solutions to decommissioning challenges both in the UK and internationally.
As a Senior Engineer, you will have the opportunity and responsibility to lead projects and specific work packages, interface with clients, and mentor junior team members.
Responsibilities include:
* Optioneering and Feasibility Studies
* Decommissioning Planning
* Data collection, conditioning, and validation
* Developing multi-phase decommissioning plans
* Creating Decommissioning Flow Diagrams
* Scheduling, sequencing, throughput modelling
* Conducting bespoke studies
* Post-Operational Clean Out (POCO) Planning
* Investigation and Characterisation Planning
* Dismantling and Size Reduction Planning and Design
* Preparing Method Statements and Risk Assessments
* Supporting Hazard Identification processes (e.g., HAZOP, HAZID)
* Preparing tender documents and technical responses
Location: Based at our Abingdon office.
Minimum qualifications and experience:
* BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in Engineering or Science, preferably with a nuclear specialization
* Experience in nuclear decommissioning, waste management, nuclear operations, or a related highly-regulated industry
* At least 5 years of professional engineering or technical experience
* Experience in coaching, mentoring, or leading technical projects
* Chartered status or actively pursuing it
The candidate must have UK work permission and be willing to undergo security vetting. Travel to other sites may be required. Flexibility in working hours is expected.
