We are seeking to recruit a Consultant or Assistant Consultant to join the Future Mobility team (part of Mobility Planning). The team is virtual, but the successful candidate will ideally be based in an office where WSP has a presence (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, Manchester or London).
Responsibilities
* Providing day-to-day support in the delivery of a range of projects, potentially across multiple areas, including:
* Zero emission mobility – helping clients switch to electric, hydrogen and other alternative-fuelled vehicles
* New modes and services – supporting clients to harness new technologies and business models in transport (e.g., e-scooters, demand responsive transport, cargo bikes, Mobility as a Service)
* Accessibility and inclusion – working to make transport more accessible through a human-centred approach
* Policy and futures – horizon scanning to embed future mobility into policies and strategies
* Supporting a broad range of mobility projects, including budgeting, programming and technical excellence
* Supporting teams in the preparation of bids, fee proposals and project programmes
* Taking on official Bid Manager and Deputy PM roles on projects where feasible
* Contributing to the team through knowledge sharing and participation in team events
* Working as part of a team to grow the Future Mobility offer in your office and nationally
* Being present in the office (hybrid working) alongside colleagues
* Collaborating with colleagues in our India office as appropriate
Your Team
The Future Mobility team includes a wide range of specialists (town planners, economists, accountants, behavioural scientists, and transport planners). We work on multi-disciplinary projects for public and private sector clients in the UK and abroad. You will be supported by senior members of the Future Mobility team, including industry-leading experts. We embrace a flexible approach to working and prioritise wellbeing.
We offer a variety of expertise to support clients with their Futures challenges in the mobility sector and beyond. For example, we have applied human-centred design to projects such as suicide prevention and air quality improvement, and we have worked on expanding EV uptake and on Autonomous Vehicles and e-scooters.

* Enthusiastic and passionate about the future of mobility, improving transport options, and delivering high-quality work for clients
* Curious, with experience using critical thinking and analytical skills to understand transport problems before identifying solutions
* Comfortable developing bespoke approaches to support individual projects or solve specific challenges
* Able to understand key trends in future mobility and related sectors
* Comfortable working across a range of subjects concurrently and able to context-switch quickly
* Strong in report writing with attention to detail, grammar and presentation
* Responsive and agile — asking for the details needed to deliver tasks and adapting to changing priorities
* Depending on experience, capable of managing projects directly as a Project Manager in client-facing roles
* Willing to work towards professional accreditation
