Salary: £50,000 - 50,000 per year Requirements: Proven track record in the use, configuration, and optimisation of wide-area telemetry and SCADA systems, ideally deployed within cloud-based environments using IP communications and networks. Previous experience with Inductive Automations Ignition platform would be desirable. Skilled in programming and data analytics tools such as Python, SQL, and Power BI within a telemetry/SCADA environment. In-depth knowledge of telemetry instrumentation, measurement systems, and associated standards, including installation, calibration, and fault diagnosis. Experience establishing and maintaining productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders. Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure or time-critical situations. Budget and project management skills for managing or contributing to delivery projects. Ability to work independently and demonstrate innovation and initiative. Welsh Language Level A1 - Entry level is essential, with support available for learning during employment. Responsibilities: Maintain and optimise the telemetry system to provide timely data to NRW staff and external partners. Develop the telemetry system and connected services to meet current and future requirements. Develop policies, standards, and guidance for telemetry in Wales. Provide technical advice as the principal expert for the telemetry software platform. Engage with staff, managers, and stakeholders to maximize benefits and minimize risks. Understand telemetry user needs and manage enhancement backlogs. Lead the introduction of new techniques and best practices to support efficient solutions. Develop and implement specialised system components and configurations. Manage projects to evaluate and improve telemetry services with innovative solutions. Act as the primary technical expert for the telemetry system vendor. Coordinate planned system developments and lifecycle upgrades effectively. Coach and mentor hydrometry & telemetry staff while providing technical guidance. Contribute to incident management by undertaking the role of the Telemetry Duty Officer. Undertake health and safety duties as appropriate to the post. Participate in incident response activities and perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
