An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Commercial Partnerships to join the national governing body, Motorsport UK, monetising key commercial properties of the organisation. Motorsport UK represents over 75,000 competitors and volunteers and over 600 clubs at the heart of motorsport. Under the leadership of the Chairman, David Richards CBE, the organisation is investing in a period of change to drive growth and create a sustainable future for motorsport in the UK.
Primary Objectives
* New partner acquisition: Lead on partner acquisition across Motorsport UK properties with a focus on
o Girls on Track UK
o British Rally Championship
o British Kart Championships
o British F4 Championship
o WRC Rally Scotland
o Motorsport UK Academy
o Girls Karting Academy
o Other major events, championships and campaigns
* Partner Management: Responsible for account and relationship management of all major Motorsport UK partners, ensuring rights delivery and continuity of business and contract extensions.
* Pipeline Management: Building and working opportunities through the sales pipeline.
* Performance & Monitoring: Monitoring and reporting of commercial partnership results.
This role requires flexibility in working hours, including regular extended hours to meet critical deadlines. As motorsport operates primarily on weekends, full availability for travel and event support throughout the year is essential.
Core Competencies
* A demonstrable track record in securing significant third‑party commercial partner revenue for sports propositions – a key measurable of success.
* A background and creative flair in developing new propositions and partnerships, delivering sustained year‑on‑year business growth.
* Experience in a similar role with a membership agency or sports property.
* A self‑starter capable of working autonomously.
* Comfortable conceiving and developing plans for products and services as well as all‑new events to commercialise, and being a face of the organisation while delivering on the ground.
* Highly organised, capable of managing a broad workload and prioritising accordingly.
* Proficient with PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft suite, Adobe products, SharePoint, OneDrive and other project tools.
* Understanding the importance of collaborating with partners to deliver projects.
* Fast‑moving world, expected to keep abreast, think on your feet and apply yourself accordingly.
Knowledge and Experience
* Understanding of motorsport at many different levels.
* Experience managing an ongoing sales funnel through each stage from proposal to contract.
* Commitment to attending a number of UK motorsport events.
* Passion and pride in delivering high quality work with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent commercial and communication skills to negotiate a good deal.
* Confident, effective communicator of ideas with good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and sell ideas while overcoming objections.
* Time management skills and ability to cope with numerous projects.
* Highly conversant in the range of Microsoft Office products.
* Ability to generate meaningful insight to develop business cases.
* Open to feedback and willing to make changes.
* Effective networking skills to build contacts.
* Thirst for knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement.
* Flexible, responsive and can‑do attitude.
