The School:
We are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to work across a school based in Sutton, starting ASAP.
The right person will work in our autism school and support 1-1 students with low ability who need academic and social development. Each class has 5-6 students, with 1 to 4 students per class. Our young people have struggled in mainstream education and need a positive experience. Most pupils are on EHCPs and have diagnoses such as ADHD or complex needs.
The successful candidate will become part of a team that specializes in delivering tailored curricula and managing behavior to meet individual needs, aiming to achieve the best educational outcomes.
The environment can be challenging, requiring a strong, resilient person or someone eager to gain experience.
You should be active, enjoy outdoor activities, or be a sports coach.
If you have experience working within the prison service, or are a driver or live near the area, please consider applying.
Shift hours are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Job Responsibilities:
* Work with groups or provide 1:1 support within the classroom
* Support pupils with complex needs, autism, learning difficulties, and challenging behavior
* Supervise pupil behavior
* Encourage, engage, and support pupils with their learning and development
The School:
Located in Sutton, South West London, this SEMH specialist school offers parking facilities. It caters to students aged 10 to 16, referred from local boroughs. The school has onsite residential accommodation and is surrounded by fields and nature, which are utilized for behavioral management and environmental understanding. Many staff members are trained in Team Teach.
The school seeks candidates willing to work one-on-one and in small groups, who are enthusiastic and eager to learn and train in SEND support.
You Must Have:
* Experience working with children with SEN, Autism, ADHD, or SEMH
* A commitment to ongoing professional development
* Strong knowledge of the specialist curriculum and effective teaching methods
