Are you an experienced and organised professional with a passion for managing busy HGV workshops? Our client is seeking a dedicated HGV Workshop Controller to lead their high-volume workshop in Reading, Berkshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership post where your technical knowledge and managerial skills will be highly valued. The successful HGV Workshop Controller will play a vital part in delivering excellent service and driving profitable workshop operations.

7. Up To £43,000 Basic Salary + Bonus
8. Monday To Friday (41 Hour Week) / 1 Saturday Morning Per Month
9. 22 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
10. Holiday Purchase & Loyalty Scheme
11. Commercial Vehicle HGV Environment
12. Previous Commercial Vehicle Workshop Control Experience Required
13. Uniform and PPE supplied, along with free annual Class IV MOTs
14. Access to accident insurance and health support including mental health first aid

Duties of the HGV Workshop Controller:
17. Lead and motivate the workshop team to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets, ensuring high levels of productivity and customer satisfaction
18. Allocate work efficiently among technicians to maximise productivity, quality, and profitability
19. Manage workshop loading and maintain effective communication with front of house, parts, warranty, and service teams
20. Drive gross profit by maximising labour hours sold, upselling value-added services, and adhering strictly to the vehicle health check process
21. Maintain workshop equipment, organise calibration, and ensure tooling and ramps are compliant and up to date
22. Build strong relationships with parts department to ensure parts availability and proper quarantine of displaced parts
23. Oversee documentation accuracy and ensure warranty standards are upheld
24. Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety within the workshop environment
25. Support quality audits and ensure compliance with ISO and brand standards
26. Foster a positive team culture through coaching, training, and development
Requirements that the HGV Workshop Controller will need:
27. Proven experience in an HGV workshop environment or similar heavy vehicle service position
28. Strong problem-solving skills and proactive in finding solutions
29. Excellent communication skills, able to engage with team members and customers effectively
30. Exceptional organisational skills, able to prioritise and meet deadlines
31. Flexible attitude with a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, including liaising with customers outside normal hours if required
32. Good understanding of health and safety regulations and standards
33. Leadership qualities, previous supervisory or managerial experience preferably in a busy workshop setting
34. Knowledge of HGV systems, processes, and H&S practices
