Hours: 39 per week
Monday-Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30Friday: 07:30 - 15:301 in 3 weekends (15% uplift shift allowance)
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Electrician to join the on?site facilities team at HMP Cardiff. This role is essential in ensuring that all planned and reactive maintenance work within the prison is completed safely, efficiently, and to compliance standards.
About the Role
The Electrician will be responsible for maintaining electrical systems across the site, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring all installations and maintenance activities meet the required regulations. Previous experience with planned preventative maintenance is preferred, but not essential. While a Level 3 qualification is ideal, candidates with Level 2 experience will also be considered.

Uphold Health & Safety standards across the siteTest and inspect electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulationsRespond promptly to electrical breakdowns and faultsCarry out planned and preventative electrical maintenanceDiagnose and replace failed domestic electrical componentsFault?find and problem?solve on domestic electrical systemsUndertake installation work according to technical designs and IET Wiring RegulationsMonitor, manage, and order critical electrical sparesSupport sustainability and zero?carbon initiativesAssist with additional duties as required by the line managerRequirements
City & Guilds 2367 or 2357 Level 2 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)BS7671 18th Edition (17th Edition applicants considered if willing to upskill)Strong understanding of Health & Safety and maintenance processesAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyExperience working under pressure and to deadlinesComfortable working at heightsBasic IT skillsUnderstanding of fire alarms and CCTV systems is desirableKnowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work RegulationsAdditional Information
