Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEN
Protocol Education is working alongside North Somerset-based SEN School to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for its dedicated Curriculum Support Team.
Working Hours: 08.30 - 15.30
Start: ASAP
The Role
As an HLTA, you must be prepared to work flexibly to support all students requiring assistance, including those with SEND. Your responsibilities include liaising with students, teachers, parents, SENCO, and external professionals. You will guide and manage individuals and groups for interventions and, under the direction of a teacher, may manage whole classes. The successful candidate will plan and deliver effective learning activities, as well as assess, record, and report on pupils' progress.
The Ideal Candidate
* Has previous experience as a TA / HLTA
* Has at least grade C in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
* Possesses a passion for delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences and supporting children's development
* Works well with colleagues to enhance learning opportunities and positively impact student outcomes
* Demonstrates a proactive approach in all aspects of work
* Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with pupils, staff, and parents
* Is self-motivated, dedicated, and consistent
* Uses effective behaviour management strategies
* Can handle challenging situations confidently
* Builds strong relationships and is a good team player
* Possesses a confident, resilient, and flexible attitude
* Is organized and methodical
* Experience in a secondary school environment is desirable
