What will you bring?

About you

Working in the asbestos field requires accuracy, diligence, and accountability. We’re looking for someone who is careful, methodical, and detail-oriented. You’ll need to be results-driven, able to spot issues quickly, and comfortable making sound decisions on site. Health and safety is central to our work, so a commitment to safe practices and adherence to asbestos industry standards and regulations is essential. The role is hands-on and fast-paced, so a practical mindset is important. If you have experience with tools, equipment, or technical settings, that is advantageous. Strong communication skills are essential as you will interact with a wide range of people across different locations. We’re seeking someone who is friendly, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Eligibility

Minimum requirements for eligibility to an apprenticeship align with UK Government rules. Applicants must demonstrate that the program will provide new knowledge and skills beyond their current qualifications and experience. If you already hold a Level 3, degree, or higher qualification, or substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding. You’ll need to be over 20, not in full-time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK. If you don’t meet these requirements, express your interest and we will discuss further.

How the apprenticeship works

Over 21 months, you’ll dedicate a minimum of 6 hours per week to off-the-job training, including theory (online learning) and practical training (shadowing, mentoring, and assignments). This forms part of a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship. You’ll be trained by a Tiro tutor and a Life Environmental Services mentor to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and work habits. This is a hands-on apprenticeship with salary support throughout the programme.

Eligibility reminder

There are minimum government requirements to be met. If you already hold a Level 3, degree or higher qualification, you may not be eligible for funding.

Join us to develop a career in asbestos analysis and surveying.

Note: This is a site-based role requiring travel to different sites across the North West.
