Purpose
Lead the Commercial team to deliver the Society’s ambitious growth plans and other strategic objectives. Leadership of all mortgage and savings sales & marketing activity including product development and management, distribution strategy and influencing the entire mortgage proposition through design of the lending policy and service delivery. Development of strategic marketing plans aimed at new member acquisition, member retention and referral based on a defined customer experience and achieving commercial targets. Challenging operational processes to correct gaps in the member experience through all delivery channels.
Responsibilities
Channels
· Establish/maintain key relationships for services to which/from members are referred including intermediaries
· Design/ implement a compelling member and intermediary proposition to achieve agreed commercial targets
· Identify and onboard other distribution channels, where appropriate, including giving consideration to aggregators
· Work closely with the Director of Operations to build and maintain a high-quality mortgage book
Customers/Members
· Assume first line responsibility for consumer duty, ensuring the Society complies with all aspects of the Consumer Duty Act and provides good financial outcomes for customers/members
· Carry out annual Consumer Duty review and report, including annual product reviews
· Identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes and implement changes as appropriate
· Monitor market trends and regulatory updates to stay ahead of changes that may impact consumer duty
· With other members of ExCo, foster a culture of fair treatment for members
Brand/Marketing:
· Produce end ensure delivery of the Marketing Strategy in line with the corporate plan
· Ensure all literature, website and promotional material meets regulatory standard
· Lead initiatives to enhance the firm’s consumer duty framework, encompassing new technology adoptiona dn process optimisation.
· Identify and develop new relationships that reflect emerging opportunities to build the Society’s reputation.
Product Development:
· Plan and provision of mortgage and savings products within the limits set by BSOCS.
· Develop new product proposals to meet member needs and support the Corporate Plan
· Work closely with the Treasury team and Finance Director in the development and pricing of relevant products
Change Management:
· Be attuned to developments in political, social/economic, competitor (market dynamic), technological (digitisation) and regulatory (IFRS) environments. Use this insight to inform strategy and change initiatives.
· Act as Sponsor to major initiatives and projects as required, ensuring good governance and timely delivery
Leadership:
· Lead, nurture, inspire and develop the teams to ensure their capabilities are aligned to the future needs of the Society
· Establish excellent communication channels with all colleagues to ensure they are engaged and motivated by the Society’s Mission and Purpose.
Other Responsibilities
· Contribute to the strong and responsible governance of the Society by fully discharging duties as a member of the Society’s Executive Committee and other relevant committees and working groups
· Maintain good working knowledge of the legislative, regulatory, and financial framework in which the Society operates.
· Ensure the output of all direct reports adhere to all audit and compliance requirements and Society Policy and Procedure.
· Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
Skills, knowledge and experience
You will be motivated by our ambitious growth agenda, passionate about delivering excellent outcomes for our members and nurturing an excellent team of dedicated professionals. Your experience will be in regulated financial services with a UK firm leading either savings, mortgages or both. You will be ambitious and eager to contribute at Executive Committee level and able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and experience. You are likely to have had first line responsibility for consumer duty and able to demonstrate a solid understanding of relevant regulation. You will have an impressive record of delivery and the ability to juggle major projects and initiatives with business as usual. You will have a track record of launching new products and networking internally and externally. Strong relationships with intermediaries would be helpful as would a comfort and interest in emerging technology for business use. You will have a solid understanding of the UK financial market and proficient at data analysis for driving business decisions.
