Backend Engineer (Java & Kotlin – Supply Chain)
Location & Working Arrangement
We offer hybrid working, with occasional presence at one of our Holland & Barrett offices in London or Nuneaton for team collaboration, key meetings and events (typically once per quarter).
What you’ll be doing
* Contribute to the design and development of backend systems within our supply chain domain
* Build reliable, high-quality services that support logistics, stock management and fulfilment
* Work closely with product, operations and engineering teams to deliver valuable solutions
* Take ownership of features and improvements from idea through to delivery
* Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to team standards and best practices
* Support system performance, reliability and ongoing improvements
* Learn from others and actively contribute to a collaborative team environment
What you’ll bring
* Experience in software development using Java, Kotlin or similar languages
* Experience working with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux or Project Reactor
* Some experience or exposure to event streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka
* Experience working with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or similar)
* Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS
* Familiarity with modern development tools (e.g. Git, Maven, Docker, CI/CD pipelines)
* Understanding of APIs and distributed systems concepts
* Experience with testing practices and tools (e.g. unit testing, TDD)
* A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn and grow
