Offer description

Graduate Hydrologist – Water – 2026 (Edinburgh/Glasgow)

Join Stantec as a Graduate Hydrologist in our Water Environment discipline, based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, as part of the 2026 graduate programme.

The Opportunity

Stantec’s market‑leading Technical and Environmental services group in the Water sector supports clients in the water industry, regulators, research bodies and occasionally internationally. You will work on projects that enhance the resilience of the public water supply, flood risk alleviation, sustainable drainage schemes and Nature Based Solutions.

Your Role

As a Stantec graduate you will collaborate with a friendly team of Hydrologists and a wider cohort to deliver high‑quality solutions to real‑world challenges. You will:

* Assess the flood risk impact of national infrastructure projects.
* Design Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems to mitigate infrastructure impacts.
* Support hydraulic aspects of Nature Based Solutions.
* Investigate the impact of the built environment on hydrology in 1D and 2D space.

You will learn to conceptualise, quantitatively analyse and report on hydrological systems using flood modelling and estimation software, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and gaining exposure to project management principles.

About You

We value potential over past experience. Applicants should hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline with a keen interest in Hydrology. You should:

* An Adapter – remain calm in new situations and switch between dynamic tasks.
* A Perseverer – stay composed in the face of setbacks.
* An Eager Learner – learn from experiences and anticipate how situations may unfold.
* A Collaborator – work effectively with diverse teams and consider multiple perspectives.
* A Problem‑Solver – challenge conventional thinking and provide thoughtful solutions.

We ask graduates to work from the office 4 days per week to ensure sufficient team interaction and support.

What We Can Offer You

* A competitive salary
* Private medical insurance
* A range of benefits, including holiday buy/sell, group income protection and life assurance
* Permanent employment contract
* Professional progression plan, including support for achieving chartership
* A supportive, collaborative team environment and early‑career peer group

Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.

Application Process

Recruitment is ongoing, but please apply as soon as possible as the advert may close once we have sufficient applicants. For more information and FAQs, visit Graduate Application FAQs. If you need any support or accommodations, contact graduates@stantec.com.
