Senior Technical Safety Engineer Role Join Us on the Energy Transition Journey Senior Technical Safety Engineer – Renewables, Oil, Gas & Energy Transition Location: London (Hybrid working by agreement, with occasional travel) Full-time | Permanent or will consider Contract if preferred About the Role We’re looking for an experienced Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our team and support the Liverpool Bay CCS Project – Work Package 3. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) as part of the UK’s journey to net zero. You will be responsible for conducting technical safety engineering and associated safety studies, producing high-quality engineering deliverables, and ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with clients and internal stakeholders, reporting to the Technical Safety & Environmental Manager. Key Responsibilities * Conduct and document technical safety and reliability studies for CCS and related energy projects. * Prepare design documentation including layouts, specifications, and fire and gas detection systems. * Interface with clients to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and met. * Support package engineering including datasheets, vendor reviews, and technical assessments. * Produce safety deliverables such as escape routes, hazardous area classifications, and fire protection layouts. * Stay current with industry regulations, safety assessment techniques, and engineering tools. What We’re Looking For Qualifications & Experience * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics. * Postgraduate experience in safety engineering or relevant technical discipline. * Chartered Engineer status (e.g. IChemE, IMechE, Energy Institute). * HAZOP and functional safety training (highly desirable). Technical Skills * Proficiency in safety analysis tools (e.g. SAFETI, Phast, Flaresim, MAROS, AVSim, Pipenet). * Experience in onshore Carbon Capture or similar industrial process/chemical/oil & gas projects. * Solid knowledge of fire safety systems, hazardous area classifications, and industry standards. * Strong IT literacy and ability to produce detailed technical documentation. Soft Skills * Excellent written and verbal communication. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively. * Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. * A proactive and collaborative approach to working in multidisciplinary teams.
