Job Title: Occupational Health Advisor

Location: Holyleigh House, Netley (with the possibility of hybrid working)

Salary: PO3 (£45,147.00 - £48,894.00 per annum), plus £5000 per annum market supplement

Hours: 37 per week; Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

Contract: Permanent

The Occupational Health Team provide advice and support to individuals to ensure Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary can manage its’ workforce effectively. The Team enables effective health management force wide, which assists with the retention of skills and experience. We are looking for a new Occupational Health Advisor to join the team of 22, whose main focus will be case management of referrals and providing clinical assessments of individual’s health and fitness relating to their role within the Constabulary.





About the role



Working alongside 7 other specialists and reporting to the Clinical Lead, an Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) will be assigned referrals from managers and act as the case manager from the beginning to end. The main responsibilities include but are not limited to;



* Giving general advice;
* Attending management emergency group meetings for individuals in critical circumstances;
* Arranging meetings and attending case conferences as a subject area expert;
* Supporting return to work rehabilitation;
* Making adjusted duties considerations and clinical judgements around ill health retirement;



Whilst there is no direct line management responsibilities, the OHA’s are expected to support the team technicians and administrators on a day to day basis. The team also receives enquiries that are for other departments, and the OHA’s will be required to respond to these queries and signpost the sender to the appropriate team.

What are we looking for in our successful candidate?



Our ideal candidate will be a registered General Nurse, holding current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council Occupational Health Degree. You will also have Occupational Health Specialist Practitioner Status at Part 3 NMC.



You will have significant clinical and occupational health experience, including being trained and competent in health surveillance such as audiometry, spirometry, and vision screening. You must be able to keep clear and accurate records, whilst managing and dealing with multiple time critical demands. You must have the ability and confidence to make difficult decisions, giving your professional opinion and remaining impartial despite what the individual wants the outcome to be.
