Lead accountant/manager

Join a local accountancy firm in Ashford as an Accountant Lead/Manager. This senior management role involves overseeing a team responsible for managing the VAT processes for a varied portfolio of clients, with direct client management as relationships. This role would also be ideal for candidates with experience in the construction sector and knowledge of CIS.

Day-to-day of the role:

* Manage and support a team of junior staff members, overseeing their work with a diverse client portfolio.
* As familiarity with clients increases, manage a select group of client accounts directly.
* Ensure compliance and accurate handling of all VAT-related processes.
* Provide strategic input and support to the director, aligning team activities with broader business goals.
* Train and develop team members on accounting systems and processes, including Iris, QuickBooks, Xero, FreeAgent, and Kashflow.
* Conduct VAT investigations and handle VAT returns.
* Liaise with HMRC and clients to resolve queries and conduct client meetings to review draft accounts.
* Perform ad hoc duties as required.
