The Technician role offers foundational experience to support scientific operations, focusing on Equipment Management, Maintenance, and Qualification to ensure smooth laboratory practices and high-quality data delivery.
The role involves providing operational support to organise all aspects of a research laboratory according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will collaborate with colleagues to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and samples for customer studies, supported by training and development to understand the role's value and importance.
Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 9-5, with flexible options as a benefit. The hourly rate is £12.67.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :
* Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
* Record maintenance activities in the LIMS system.
* Define & communicate maintenance schedules with the Senior Facilities Specialist.
* Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and liaise with service providers.
* Manage spare parts for routine repairs.
* Respond to alarm notifications on the Equipment Monitoring System.
* Support PAT testing of equipment.
* Gather quotes for equipment needs.
* Receive, inspect, and book new equipment following SOPs.
* Lead the release of new equipment into the laboratory.
* Assist with installation and setup of laboratory equipment.
* Author SOPs for new equipment and train team members.
* Support installation of complex equipment like CO2 incubators.
* Prepare and complete Qualification documents for new and existing equipment.
* Update equipment status in LIMS and maintain the Equipment Qualification Inventory.
Ideal candidates will have a passion for science, a proactive attitude, and a desire to grow professionally. They should be highly organised, detail-oriented, team players, and excellent communicators. A curious mindset, willingness to learn, and a customer-focused approach are essential. Qualifications include 5 x A-C National 4’s or 5’s (or equivalent), with prior experience in a similar environment desirable but not essential.
