Assistant Financial Accountant
Location: Remote/Home-based (with one day per week to central office) some travel to Aurora Central Office Services will also be required
Salary: £31,000 - £33,000
Hours: 40 hrs per week

The Aurora Group is one of the largest providers of SEND educational and care services in the country, supporting over 1,200 children, young people and adults, and employing over 1,500 staff spread across 27 services around England.
Due to the growth of our business; we’re currently looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant. Whilst the role is home based, there is a requirement to travel to Twigworth, Gloucestershire once a week where our Central Office provides financial support, leadership and governance to the group as well as a number of our sites across the country.
The Role:
You will be supporting both the Fees Accountant and Financial Accountant performing month end journal posting and reconciliations and ensuring day to day cash card management and fee queries
Key Duties:
1. Assisting in the preparation in production of the year end statutory accounts for all legal entities
2. Responsible for preparing monetary and revenue balance sheet reconciliations.
3. Manage the Soldo (cash card) process and system.
4. Liaise with the Financial Controller with tax advisors and external auditors.
5. Assist with VAT submissions for the group.
6. To understand the fee structure and assist in building and maintaining of the fee models.
7. Ensure revenue is appropriately accounted for on a monthly basis.
Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the team when required.
Experience:
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
8. Part qualified accountant or qualified by experience with experience in similar functions.
9. A proven and demonstrable record of experience in statutory and management accounts.
10. Desire to show initiative and continuous improvement of current processes and procedures.
11. Comfortable using finance software and systems including Unit 4, Microsoft programmes and web-based programmes.
12. Strong accuracy skills with high attention to detail, whilst having the ability to see the bigger picture.
13. Able to cope under pressured deadlines.
14. Able to take ownership for tasks.
15. Strong excel skills, with a desire to learn more. Strong logic required to build complicated formulae.
16. Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills.
