Purpose of the role
This is an incredible opportunity to make a difference to EE TV and the broadband platform to enhance the experience of millions of our users.
You’ll be part of an agile software engineering team, working in a friendly environment where you’ll have the autonomy to use your innovative ideas to develop and deliver network application services. You will also be helping the team with defining roadmaps and shaping the future of EE TV.
The team environment is open to using new tools & technologies and gives you opportunities for continuous learning, and continuous development.
This team supports
1. The EE TV platform, the EE TV STB solution, and the EE TV companion apps.
2. The broadcast platform which carries live TV channels for the BBC, ITV, Sky and TNT Sports
3. Our data pipelines to generate all the analytics we need to manage TV
If you have software engineering experience and ability to pick up new technologies, then this could be an excellent opportunity for you.
Job responsibilities
4. Deliver software solutions and have a solid understanding of the importance of clean code, test driven development, shared code ownership, pairing, agile principles, Restful API design and the management of technical debt.
5. Delight customers by delivering rapid agile change while working at a sustainable pace.
6. Work closely with others in your team to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.
7. Build reliable and well-tested systems.
8. Troubleshoot issues, actively seeking out problems and solving them.
9. Contribute to the software engineering community.
10. Experiment with new technologies to help push the boundaries of what your team is building.
11. Deliver resolutions to problems and projects that tend to be complex, cross-domain or of high impact to customers.
Ideal experience you will have
Following are the technologies that the team is currently using, however we're excited to consider you even if you have experience with different tech stacks:
Practices: Test driven development, contract first development, agile development experience, continuous integration, continuous deployment, DevOps, automation
Technologies: Java, OpenAPI / Swagger, Docker, Kafka, Ansible, Terraform, Python, Node.js, React, Git, Jenkins
