Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with students who have a dual diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), ensuring they receive the tailored academic and emotional support they need to thrive.
The Role
As an LSA, you will work closely with teachers to provide individual and small-group support, helping students stay engaged, develop social skills, and achieve academic progress. The role requires patience, creativity, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support students with ASD and ADHD in lessons and during unstructured times
2. Implement strategies to help students regulate emotions, stay focused, and manage transitions
3. Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
4. Promote positive behaviour and self-confidence
5. Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and parents to track progress
6. Provide pastoral support to help students feel safe, understood, and included
Person Specification
Essential:
7. Experience working with young people, ideally with ASD and/or ADHD
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
9. Patience, empathy, and resilience
10. Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
11. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Desirable:
12. Relevant qualification in education, SEN, or behaviour support
13. Understanding of sensory needs and regulation strategies
