About the Job: Health Care Assistant needed in NHS Jobs
We are looking for a part-time, experienced Health Care Assistant or Phlebotomist to deliver care to patients in our four general practice sites, mainly in Wimbledon and New Malden.
Working hours: Flexible, by arrangement
Salary: Dependent on experience
Required/Mandatory Qualifications:
* Care certificate
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Commitment to providing high-quality patient care
Main duties of the job
* Ensure pathological samples are collected and dispatched to the lab efficiently and appropriately
* Undertake clinical measurements and tasks, ensuring accurate recording in clinical records, including:
* Phlebotomy
* Urine testing
* ECGs
* Blood pressure, pulse, rhythm, height, weight, BMI
* ABPM and cardiac event monitoring
* NHS health checks
* Vaccinations: flu, pneumonia, and others
* B12 injections
* Clip and suture removal
* Basic wound care with approved dressings
* Act as a chaperone for clinicians
* Understand long-term conditions, diagnostics, treatments, and principles of care and self-management

Job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Patient care tasks as per training, including:
* Sample collection and dispatch
* Clinical measurements: phlebotomy, urine testing, ECGs, vital signs, health checks, vaccinations, injections, wound care, and acting as a chaperone
* Understanding of long-term conditions and patient education
* Supporting clinical staff and managing emergency situations within scope
Administrative duties:
* Stock control and replenishment
* Patient communication and appointment scheduling
Communication and team working:
* Effective communication with patients, carers, and team members
* Participation in meetings and team activities
Organization and quality:
* Adherence to policies and standards
* Data management and contribution to service development
Other responsibilities include maintaining a tidy work environment, ongoing training, and supporting staff development.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Higher Education Certificate (preferred)
* HCA experience: 1 year (required)
* Care Certificate
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Experience with health checks, blood pressure, ECG, vaccinations, and wound care
Additional Experience
* Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team, commitment to quality care
